127QC: making election data easier to understand.

I built 127QC to explore Quebec elections through numbers, maps and local realities. It’s a project that brings together my interest in the web and in data analysis.

A project where the web meets data

At cabana.dev, I focus on making websites fast, reliable and pleasant to use. With 127QC, I explore another side of the same work: organizing a large amount of information so readers can find what interests them and understand what they’re looking at.

The challenge goes beyond displaying tables. It means choosing the right reference points, putting numbers in context and letting readers move from the big picture to a single riding.

What you can explore on 127QC

Ridings

Local profiles to look up election results and put each race in context.

Maps and comparisons

A visual reading of results and projections to better grasp the differences between regions.

Methodology and analysis

Explanations of the model, its assumptions and its limits, along with a review of how projections compared to actual results.

Explaining the numbers, limits included

An election projection rests on data and assumptions. It doesn’t guarantee how a vote will turn out. Presenting uncertainty is therefore as much a part of the project as the maps and percentages.

127QC lets you review the methodology and compare published projections with actual results. The goal is to give readers what they need to form their own interpretation.

127QC is my personal project. This page presents the thinking behind it; the election data and its updates are available directly on the site.
